Affiliation and licensing of athletes - AFS Fezile Dabi Cross Country Running District | Parys, Free State, South Africa

Affiliation & Licenses

Club / School League Affiliation

NOT REQUIRED FOR INTER-REGION CHAMPS
The Free State province present Cross Country Running Leagues within the various districts of the province. Each district will require that clubs and schools who want to participate be affiliated within their district. The club / school affiliation fee and requirements may change slightly from ons district to the next, but a club / school will only be required to register and pay once for the season. It is important for clubs and schools to affiliate if they want their athletes to be eligible for the various district teams and advance to inter-district, provincial, and national championships. Athletes who represent clubs / schools who are not affiliated are still welcome to participate in the AFS Fezile Dabi District League, but they will only be elligble for team selection if the clubs / schools they represent are affiliated with their district league.

Club / School affiliation with the AFS Fezile Dabi District League will not be required if:
  • The club / school has already affiliated with another AFS Cross Country District League.
  • The club / school is not affiliated with Athletics Free State (AFS). Athletes from all provinces are welcome to participate, but only AFS-affiliated athletes are eligible for team selection.
  • The club / school is not inteding to compete for team selection (participate for the fun).

How to get your ASA (AFS) license

It will be required that all athletes display their ASA licenses (front and back of the running vest) at all times during a race. ASA licenses will be required for participation in all of the leagues. No athlete will be allowed to start a race without an ASA license.

Please take note of the following:
  • It is against the rules to run with another athlete's ASA license or race number. Doing so will lead to disqualification and disciplinary action.
  • License applications are processed by Athletics Free State. Please DO NOT direct your license-related enquiries and applications to the district league event organiser.
  • Athletes must apply for their ASA licenses via their respective AFS-affiliated clubs / schools. The league organiser CAN NOT issue ASA licenses on behalf of clubs / schools.
  • Temporary / day-licenses may be available at some of the district leagues at an additional cost, but athletes will still be required to have a valid permanent (year) license to participate in district, provincial, and national championships.
